Our Quite Corner of the Sukri Vineyard

Our 200 acre estate vineyard tucked in the rolling hills of the Sukri sits on shallow, black soils and surrounded with Granite bedrock, known for its cooling winds from the Narmada river. Sukri was first established in 2021 for the purpose of vineyards. Our vineyard’s microclimate makes for a truly unique site that produces beautiful fruit for our wines. Inspired by the high-elevation terrain, we have always began dreamt of a family vineyard and planted the first grapes in 2022

Sukri is not just a vineyard; it’s a sanctuary where nature’s beauty thrives. Spread across a serene 200-acre expanse within the Sukri Estate Hills, our location is a testament to the breathtaking allure of Central India. Here, amidst the rolling hills and lush vineyards, you’ll find a haven of tranquility that invites you to escape the hustle and bustle of everday life.

Our original varieties of Shiraz, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Zinfandel were first planted in 2021. The vines are on a VSP (vertically shoot positioned) trellis system and have been grafted onto phylloxera resistant rootstocks.

The Sukri Philosophy

We are deeply committed to the health and resiliency of our vineyard. Through organic and sustainable management practices, we ensure that our vines develop healthy, happy root systems and balanced canopies. These practices help us to guide and create rich complexity within our wines. We wholeheartedly believe that the best wines start in the vineyard. Our winemaking approach is to guide and trust in these natural processes to best express the character of the vineyard.

The Winemaking - Hand Crafted

The winemaking at Sukri Vineyards is driven by tradition while not losing sight of what innovation can bring to the blend. Our aim is to make wines that are balanced and elegant and a true expression of the vineyards they come from.

The technology associated with winemaking is always improving, as is the knowledge and understanding of the science of wine. Important as these factors are, to preserve the varietal integrity of the fruit from our vineyard is key. In the winery we ferment our grapes in many small, separate batches. This allows for the nuances and character of each separate fermentation to come to the fore and be considered when blending for our Estate, Reserve or Icon wines.

The perfect vintage is warm and dry throughout autumn; the climate is so benign of threats that we can pick the fruit when it is truly flavour-ripe for the style of wine desired. The perfect vintage, of course, does not exist. In crafting wine one learns to deal with the weather nature hands you, and gradually to enjoy the variation from year to year. Great wine should reflect the site and the climate of where it is grown. One of the most rewarding challenges in making wine is to craft a wine that best represents the vintage in which it was grown, that plays to the strengths of the harvest and mitigates the challenges that were faced.

Sukri Vineyard has custom crush services available in our 18,000 square foot production facility.

We specialize in small-lot production of premium Shiraz, Zinfandel as well as other specialty varieties, such as Tempranillo, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon

Our professional winemaking team works closely with each client in identifying winemaking goals and desired styles. We offer turnkey custom crush services with a client minimum of 10 tons. With top-of-the-line equipment, our modern facility ensures all fruit is handled with care and scrupulous sanitation.
