A Deliberately Moderate Tempo
In the classical music lexicon, sukri is synonymous with a moderate tempo, sometimes referred to as “walking” pace.
Music is deeply important to us and this word has special meaning in our lives. Like the work in our vineyard and winery, sukri describes a movement within a symphony or concerto where the tempo changes to a calming cadence. This, we have found, is the rhythm of Sukri Vineyard.
Our vines have moderate vigor — a highly desirable trait — thanks to our shallow soils and the cooling winds from the Reservoir Water. Our balanced wines have moderate alcohol. Our work in the vineyard and winery is done mindfully, carefully, and without rushing, at a moderate tempo.

Why we have designed this program- Our founder believes that We live in a world where we are chronically disconnected from ‘self’ … but there are less of those distractions in nature. It can help ground us in the present moment our senses.
A Labor of Love
While we were raised in vastly different environments, Sumit in the Himalayas, Shimla and Gaura in Jabalpur, we both grew up with a deep appreciation and respect for Mother Earth. In the late 2000s, established in our careers, we found ourselves yearning for the rural life of our childhoods and dreaming of land that could be passed on to children and grandchildren.
Together, we found a perfect hill with stunning views, sal trees, and a five-acre pond and beautiful hills. There was a catch, however: The land’s thin, sedimentary soils wouldn’t allow for any crops to grow — except grapes. And so, with the purchase of this special hill, we restored the land and planted a vineyard, demonstrating our love for the place, each other, and our family by farming the land sustainably and preserving its diverse natural habitat.
Stewards of the Land
The neighboring wildlife refuge and our own restoration endeavors have happily contributed to the ever-growing population of birds and other wildlife at Sukri Vineyard. We are particularly taken by the great deers and doe, who come from the surrounding area to our pond. These beautiful birds, which were hunted almost to extinction for their white feathers, are so precious to us. To us, they represent the resilience and majesty of nature and remind us of our duty as stewards of the land.
